We are excited to share that construction progress for the Athletics and CTE Classroom Upgrades at Pat Neff Middle School is passing the half-way point!
Originally built in 1961, San Antonio’s Pat Neff Middle School is the oldest middle school in the Northside Independent School District–one of the largest school districts in Texas. As part of the ongoing transformation of this campus, NISD commissioned Garza Architects to design and develop a new Athletics and Career Technical Education (CTE) building as part of Phase II of the overall campus master plan.
This new athletics and CTE complex will benefit the current students by replacing the original campus that has served the community for the last 60+ years. The new expansion will feature a competition gymnasium and practice gymnasium, boys and girls locker rooms, a weight room, and CTE classrooms including a dance studio, construction lab, and engineering lab. Additionally, this project will feature a direct connection to the existing football field and the three new tennis courts, further enhancing the connection from indoors to outdoors.
This new wing of the campus will serve as a student hub, centered around sports, dance, and making for years to come.
As of today, a majority of the structural steel has been installed, which begins to showcase the overall form and size of the building. Closer towards the end of the project, the circulation canopies, tennis courts, and exterior landscaping will be installed highlighting the strong connection to the existing campus and adjacent football field.
Set to be completed in October of 2025, construction is rapidly progressing each day. As such, effective construction administration remains critical to ensuring the overall success and quality of the project. Coordination with W.R. Griggs Construction (General Contractor) as well as tools like our DJI Mavic Mini drone allow our team to effectively oversee construction progress.
